Campaign: Tyranny of Dragons
Game Etiquette & Table Expectations
-
Be on Time - Sessions will start at the designated time. If you’re running late or can’t make it, please notify the group as early as possible.
-
Respect Fellow Players - Be kind, listen actively, and don’t talk over others. Keep real-life arguments and drama out of the game.
- This is a SAFE SPACE for ALL. We respect pronouns, names, gender expression, bodily autonomy, etc...
- If you cannot or will not respect EVERYONE at the table, this game is not for you.
-
Stay in Character (Mostly) - Table banter is fine, but let’s stay focused enough to keep the game moving.
- Know Your Character (Be Prepared) - Take time to learn the basics of your character. If you need help, ask! Myself or another player will be happy to help you.
- What is your typical role - both in combat and during roleplay.
- Does your species or class have any special features? (ie: RAGE for Barbarians, BARDIC INSPIRATION for Bards, or SNEAK ATTACK for Rogues).
- READ. YOUR. CHARACTER. SHEET. No, seriously, read it.
- Does your backstory change how your character would react? Play into it! (Struggling with creating a backstory? Let's chat!)
- Think Ahead - A single 'round' of combat is 6 seconds. When we roll initiative, start thinking about what your character will do on their turn. Have a 'Plan B' too - a member of your party could do something chaotic that changes your plans!
- A spell that lasts 1min will last for approx. 10 rounds of combat
- I don't like to impose a time limit here, but if I notice combat taking excessively long, I might impose some limits to keep the pacing from stagnating during session.
-
No Distracting Behavior - This includes excessive phone use, trolling, rule-lawyering, or dominating the table. Be a team player.
- You know yourself best. We understand some people need fidgets, etc...As long as it doesn't affect everyone at the table.
-
Content Boundaries - If any topics are off-limits or triggering, let the DM know in advance.

House Rules (DM Rules)
- No metagaming - There is a difference between what you know and what your character knows. Please do not look up anything regarding the plot or monsters that I am utilizing for this campaign. Additionally, if another party member has information and they have not told you, or you are not within earshot to receive that information, you should not be acting on that knowledge.
- Make it make sense to me - I will always reward creativity within sessions! Rule of Cool is ON THE TABLE. However, if you want to do some shenanigans, be prepared for me to ask you to provide a logical reason why your plan would work. This will require more than just "Magic" or "The power of anime.".
- Bring it back to the narrative - I'm alright with inter-party conflict. However, there is a degree of trust that I have with my players in that they know that things are always supposed to work out and we are able to move forward as a unit.
- You describe your crit fails. - If you crit fail, I will allow you to describe what happens. You get to choose your own consequence. If I believe you're trying to pull a punch, however, I will provide additional consequence.
- Homebrew must be approved by me - I'm alright with homebrew, but I do want to take the time to look over what you are proposing and formally approve it.
- Be respectful and be a team player - This is going to sound incredibly blunt. D&D is a collaborative storytelling game, and ensuring that everyone is having fun is a priority. Remember that you are a part of a team, and you are a main character, not the main character. Nobody wants to be the "it's what my character would do" person.
- If a dice hits the floor, roll it once more - even on a natural 20 - Floor dice is bad vibes.
- I will not repeat myself more than once - Please come to session prepared to focus and pay attention (both to the DM and your fellow players)
- No, we will not have a tarrasque. Don't ask.
House Rules (Location expectations)
Seth & Emily are kind enough to host us, it is our duty to RESPECT their home. Please read the following.
- Parking - Please park in the driveway. If the driveway is full, you may park on the street but make sure to follow all local parking ordinances. Avoid blocking driveways or fire hydrants.
- Mind the Cats - The cats are crafty escape artists. Please double-check that the doors are fully closed and latched behind you. If you let a cat out, you're on fetch duty.
-
Bathroom Location - There's a bathroom on the main floor. If you're new, someone will gladly point it out.
-
Respect the Space - Be a courteous guest. Clean up after yourself, and please take any trash home with you at the end of the session.
-
Food & Drinks - You’re welcome to bring food or drinks—just be mindful of spills and crumbs. Use coasters and clean up promptly.
